This site was created for Amanda Barusch, whose work moves across fiction, essays, scholarship, public writing, and books on aging and social life. The design challenge was to give those bodies of work a clear structure without reducing Amanda’s work to a single, simplified author brand.
The Design Challenge
Amanda’s work needed more than a standard author website. The site had to make space for two related but distinct public identities: her literary work and her scholarly work.
That meant creating a structure where readers, event organizers, collaborators, students, researchers, and publishing contacts could all find the right path into her work.
What We Solved
A clearer distinction between Literature and Scholarship
The site separates Amanda’s literary and scholarly work while keeping both within a single coherent authorial presence.A calmer visual language
The design uses spacious layouts, restrained typography, and textured imagery to create a literary atmosphere without overwhelming the writing itself.A more usable content structure
Books, essays, blogs, selected publications, interviews, and contact pathways are organized so visitors do not have to sort through everything at once.A Foundation that Can Grow
The site is built so Amanda can continue adding essays, publications, announcements, interviews, and new books without needing to rethink the whole structure.
